winding wool

Such a simple activity but so calming. We did this one evening last week when faithwas feeling quite excited and couldn't sleep. We sat on the sofa together, dimmed the lights and wound wool. The quiet and calm together with an activity that has a purpose and the feeling of having genuinly helped all make for a contented child. Faith went right off to sleep afterwards.

This is lovely manos del uraguay 100% merino (this colourway is arctic shadow) which will become a warm winter shawl.



we are watering the garden...

We are currently house sitting at my parents while they are visiting my brother in singapore. There house is only 15 minutes away from ours but we have moved in to look after the dog and we have even brought our bunnies with us! I think they worry that we will leave the garden to dry out so this post is mostly reassurance for them that the garden is doing fine but also its just beautiful and I like taking photos of all the flowers.

fun in the pool

We celebrated my mums birthday at the weekend and although I failed to get the important pictures, such as birthday cake, the actual party etc. I did manage to get some nice ones of the kids in the paddling pool.

When Roghan was 4 months old I started taking him to a baby swimming class, I was unsure of it when I first started but it turned out great because his confidence and enjoyment of the water is really high. I don't do the classes anymore as they are very expensive but I'll definately keep taking him swimming.

Taking a splashing break to recharge and refill. Of course then the big kids had to join in.

The sun has come to cornwall and the colours are just beautiful. We are outside as much as possible just soaking it all up.

sunbathing...

I just had to share this photo, we love our bunnies so much and I love going out the backdoor to greet them every morning. I like to make their lives comfortable so whenever it is sunny I put out a rug in the sunniest spot and leave them to toast themselves!

yarn along

Joining in with Ginny for the yarn along today, I sort of finished Faith's jumper. I finished it with short sleeves and I thought that would be fine for the summer and I'll finish off the detachable long sleeves ready for when the winter gets colder.

I managed this first photo in the brief sunshine but then the rain had started again by the time I finished, so my apologies for the dark photos.

Faith really likes it and says it is really warm. I made it in an age 8 size so hopefully we will get a couple of winters out of it. Ravelry notes here.

This is one mitten I have done to go with Roghans hat. More on this when it's all done.
